The Undoing

Shame,

Fell off my skin

Scales, water running through my fingers

When I realised

it was never mine to hold

But only what had been put upon me.

That relief. The freedom. The liberation.

The allowing—

All of it wild, abundant, and beautiful

Uncharted territory.

I cannot wait for you to meet me here.

I left the residue on the bathroom floor. And let it watch me walk away.
